MULTIPOINT LOCK REPAIR
Multipoint Door Lock Has Failed
Multipoint locks use a central mechanism to operate hooks, rollers, bolts or other locking points along the door edge. When the system fails, the correct solution depends on which component has failed and whether the door is open or jammed shut.
Repair options
Gearbox or component replacement
Some systems allow a failed central component to be replaced while retaining serviceable parts of the locking strip.
Complete mechanism replacement
If the mechanism is extensively worn, damaged or an appropriate component repair is not viable, the complete multipoint strip may need replacing.
Correct the underlying alignment
If misalignment contributed to the failure, we address that as part of the repair rather than fitting a new mechanism back into the same strained setup.
Gain access first
If the mechanism has failed while locked, access may need to be gained before the system can be properly inspected and repaired.
We identify the mechanism before ordering parts
Multipoint locks vary significantly. Clear photos of the faceplate, handles and any visible manufacturer markings can help identify the system before attendance or parts sourcing.
Do not repeatedly force the handle
If the mechanism has become stiff or stopped moving normally, continued force can worsen the damage.
How do we decide between a gearbox and full mechanism?
We identify the multipoint system, inspect the condition of the locking strip and establish which part has actually failed. Where a compatible component repair is practical and the remainder of the system is sound, that may avoid replacing the entire strip. Where wear or damage is more extensive, a complete mechanism can be the more reliable repair.
What if the original mechanism is obsolete?
Older multipoint systems can sometimes be discontinued. In that situation we investigate suitable replacement or adaptation options based on the door and existing locking points rather than fitting an unrelated part. Photos of manufacturer markings and the full faceplate can be especially useful for identifying older hardware.
