A customer in Northolt, UB5 contacted Fix My Locks about the side entrance to their garden. The door still had an old access-control door-entry system fitted, but the system was no longer being used and had become redundant.
The customer regularly uses this entrance to take their bikes in and out of the garden, so they wanted something much simpler and more convenient for everyday use — without having to carry or find a key each time.
Removing the old access-control system
We removed the redundant door-entry equipment and prepared the existing side garden door for a more practical locking solution.
A heavy-duty weatherproof code lock
We fitted a heavy-duty weatherproof code lock designed for an external environment. The new setup gives the customer straightforward keyless access through the side entrance using a code.
For this household, it makes taking bikes through the garden entrance far easier. Instead of unlocking the door with a key while manoeuvring a bike, they can use the keypad and get through the entrance quickly and conveniently.
A simpler solution for the way the door is actually used
Not every redundant access-control system needs to be replaced with another electronic system. Once we understood how the customer wanted to use this entrance, a robust code-lock solution made much more sense: no redundant electronics, no everyday key to worry about and a straightforward way for authorised family members to use the side entrance.
