LANDLORD LOCKSMITH
Change Locks Between Tenancies
Between tenancies, a landlord or managing agent may need to restore control over property keys, replace unreliable locks or deal with keys that have not been returned. We can assess what actually needs changing rather than automatically replacing every lock on the property.
Options for landlords and agents
Change the cylinder or key-operated component
Where the mechanism is serviceable, changing the relevant component may provide a new set of keys without replacing the complete locking system.
Replace worn or failed locks
If a lock is unreliable, damaged or unsuitable, we can replace the necessary hardware while the property is between occupants.
Review security at the same visit
Where requested, we can identify older or vulnerable hardware and explain sensible upgrade options.
Coordinate access
For occupied or managed properties, we can work from the instruction supplied by the landlord or agent and coordinate practical access details with the relevant contact.
Information to send us
Provide the full postcode, access contact, which doors require attention, whether all keys were returned, photos where possible and any authorisation or invoicing requirements.
Multiple managed properties
If you manage a portfolio, consistent job information and clear approval arrangements help urgent and planned locksmith work run more efficiently.
When is a lock change sensible between tenants?
A change may be appropriate where keys have not been returned, there is uncertainty about how many copies exist, the existing lock is unreliable or the property requires a planned security improvement. The exact work depends on the door: on some doors the key-controlling cylinder can be changed independently, while other lock types may require a different approach.
Can the work be arranged before the new tenant arrives?
Yes. For vacant properties, send us the access arrangements, postcode and photos of the relevant doors. Completing planned lock work before handover can make key allocation clearer for the incoming tenancy and gives time to address any additional door or alignment fault discovered during the visit.
Need Locks Changed Between Tenancies?
Send us the property details and we can advise what needs changing.
